Ad Space
Sometimes I find ads that are amusing or interesting and just feel the need to share. An added benefit of posting the first ad is that I am pretty sure it will annoy Adam, with his anti-global warming outlook… Though with January temperatures in NYC averaging 60 degrees over the last few days I am not sure how you could argue against it. Anyway, as I said, that is just a side benefit. The really interesting part is that the ad is “Green,” as it’s composed of clips from other ads.
No new footage was shot to produce this ad. Interesting concept, kind of gimmicky, but if you think about it, that does mean they didn’t employ a film crew who would have used electricity, probably film and various other things to actually shoot a commercial, though, as I said, really gimmicky. Anyway, here it is, After the jump you’ll be treated to an Australian ad campaign related to iPods causing death…I am guessing Apple is none too pleased.
The New South Wales Police Force has recently introduced a number of ads trying to raise awareness about the danger of crossing the street with headphones on.
In all the ads there is an iPod with headphones attached that form a chalk outline. Apparently folks in New South Wales never learned that you should look both ways before crossing the street. Kind of seems a bit, let’s go with ‘extreme’ to create an ad warning about the danger of traffic and headphones. If people aren’t aware enough to pay attention when stepping into the street, well, then maybe they deserve to be hit by cars.

I have a feeling that every bit of that global warming ad is bullshit, especially the part about EDF Energy “aiming to reduce the intensity of CO2 emissions by %60.”
First off, they are simply “aiming” to reduce C02 emissions which means they don’t really have to do jack. Secondly, what the hell is the “intensity” of C02 emissions? It is just another bullshit phrase coined in this bullshit field. If you really want to know, carbon intensity is the ratio of economic output to carbon dioxide emissions, so as long as EDF increases its “economic output” its carbon dioxide emissions can stay the same.
I do not deny that the earth is warming. I simply question the root causes of this warming and the extent to which human activity contributes. I do reject the sensationalist propaganda that paints doomsday scenarios and suggests that human beings can control earth’s temperature like a thermostat.
I know Al Gore would like to deny this, but there is a massive continuously changing thermonuclear reaction happening at the center of our solar system, which has a small effect on earth’s climate too. There are of course many factors that determine earth’s average temperature. Unfortunately, we will never properly understand our world as long as the politicos keep perverting real scientific inquiry.
It is the perversion of scientific inquiry for political ends that pisses me off. I’m very interested and open to considering all the findings regarding the relationship between C02 and global temperature cycles. At this point what I’ve read has shown me that the sun and other factors like cloud cover have much more influence on the earth’s climate than CO2.
